Bulk Explosives > ServicesBXL Bulk Explosives Limited provides a wide range of services which add value to customer blasting operations. These services are designed to increase mine productivity and reduce mining costs by optimizing blast results and increasing the efficiency of the drill-blast cycle at customer operations.Down the Hole LoadingBXL Bulk Explosives Limited (BXL) provides the mobile delivery equipment and operating personnel necessary for delivery of bulk explosives to the blast pattern and into the borehole. This operation is typically directed by the mine blasting crew.We support the blasting activity at our customers’ mines by committing our expertise and resources to provide a continuous and reliable supply of high quality explosives when they need it. Anfo and SuperAN explosives are augered into dry or lined boreholes while Magnafrac is pumped into wet boreholes to displace in situ water. The control panel(s) on board our trucks allow for changing the explosives load in the hole at any desired horizon to allow the mining engineer to make the most efficient use of explosive energy in the rock strata to be blasted. BXL pioneered the design and fabrication of high output, large capacity, front discharge explosives delivery vehicles. BXL continues to innovate by developing state-of-the-art SMART TRUCK™ and SMART SYSTEMS technology to provide improved operating efficiencies for our customers. ![]() Conventional Technical ServicesBXL Bulk Explosives Limited and Orica Canada Inc. strongly emphasize the importance of providing technical service to our customers. We have the expertise, trained personnel, software and equipment i.e. SABREX™, ShotPlus™, Powersieve™, etc. to make a valuable contribution to our customers blasting operation. The objective of our technical program is to provide technical information and technical assistance to our customers. This permits the optimization of blasting practices, and the safe, efficient utilization of products and techniques through:Technical Training CoursesTraining courses are designed to aid our customers with employee education by promoting best practices and awareness of the latest technology. Our courses include safety, blasting practice, blast design and storage, transportation and handling of explosives. The courses are customized to each customer’s requirements and range from hands-on field training to instruction in a classroom setting. Experienced and competent personnel are provided for instruction of the training courses. Blasting PhysicsThe blasting Physics Group of Orica Canada Inc. was formed to develop and apply higher levels of technology to blasting operations than those levels traditionally supplied as Conventional Technical Service to explosives users. Computer analysis technology, specialized instruments and techniques, which have been developed by Orica are used in the applications. Some of the Computer Analysis Programs developed by the Blasting Physics group include: Techniques employed by the Blasting Physics group include: Smart SystemsFor information on Smart Systems, please contact the BXL head office in Calgary. |
